Issued 1766, London. Engraved by E. Bowen.
Fine mid-18th century engraved map. Extensive engraved text and commentary for each of the islands shown. Malta islands also have an extensive key locating 29 specific locations on the islands. South Africa and the Dutch Fort at Cape of Good Hope and Table Bay seen lower left.
Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, small old blind stamp middle left through distance scale, almost invisible to the eye when viewing map and easy to miss or overlook given the level of detail seen across the map. Couple extraneous old creases down either side of centerfold, scarcely worthy of mention.
Overall, pleasing appearance, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Sheet measures c. 14 3/4"H x 18 1/8"W.
