De L'Autel De St. Pierre

De L'Autel du Val de Grace

(Architecture- Vignole- Architectural Orders- Columns from the Altars of St. Pierre & Val De Grace- Rome- Paris)

Printed 1696, Paris.

Scarce and charming original antique engraved print.

A lovely 17th century architectural engraving, extracted from a rare 1600's architectural book illustrating various orders and features of columns & building ornamentation. Text on back (French), some faint 'show-through" which is not distracting.

In Good or better antiquarian condition, surface remains mostly clean, light minor age dustiness, small spotting, gentle overall age wear, light age blemishes- all of which add visual character.

Overall the sheet remains clean and attractive for a print more than 300 years old.

Please inspect zoom scan closely. Any noteworthy flaws to the printed surface area should be visible within the enlargable scan provided.

[note: We grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws. We are doing our best to show & describe this item so you are happy when it arrives].

Despite any age flaws, the printed area remains visually pleasing. The print has a "noble" antiquarian feel to it, and remains well preserved. If we were discussing old coins, we would be discussing circulated silver coinage of this era, now age worn from circulation but still nice, well preserved, clean, noble appearance of genuine age, attractive and worthy of ownership despite any flaws.

An appealing, uncommon and interesting antique image that any collector, dealer or institution would be happy to own or display. Could also readily be collected in a personal scrapbook album or given as a present.

Sheet measures c. 5 3/4" W x 7 3/4" H.

Engraved area measures c. 4 1/2" W x 6 1/8" H.
