Brimfield Massachusetts 1850's rare J. Morse 2 sheet bond paper township mapBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
A Map of Brimfield As it Was from its Settlement 1720-1740 by J. Morse.
Issued ca. 1855-60, Springfield by Thos. Chubbucks.
Fine and uncommon mid-19th century lithographed map, printed on bond paper. Apparently issued as two separate unjoined sheets, or perhaps cleanly separate long ago.
Of particular note for the explanation key at bottom left which locates roads as well as "doubtful" roads! Hatchure lines depict terrain, roads with annotations, cemetery's located, dates, etc.
Some scattered light staining across the two sheets, minor short splitting at a couple fold-line ends. Scarce map in any condition, offered here as acquired.
Each sheet measures c. 8 5/8" H x 22 1/4" W.
Printed area measures c. 8 3/8" H x 20 1/2" W
Original fold lines as issued.
