(Small pocket-sized late 19th century French leather bound book- near miniature size and format).

With Brooklyn NY H. Maine book-binder tag. Owner Alfred A. Quimby of Brooklyn, NY inscription, noting he's Columbia Univ. Class of 1883.

Wonderful period leather binding, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. Pleasing age patina to the item, impossible to recreate and very different from any modern book.

Short video captures condition and appearance much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the book.

Nicer than typical for the type of European binding and era.

Petite Bibliotheque Charpentier Contes Choisis, by Alphonse Daudet.
1882, Paris, G. Charpentier. pp. 497.

Etched frontis by Edm. Morin with tissue guard. One other charming miniature engraved plates by Morin as well.

Period full grained leather, raised bands, gilt title lettering, marbled end papers, top edge gilt, deckled edges. Two original engraved Illustrations.

Clean, tight and sound. Leather scuffed in spots along extremities, minor marks and wear clean internally, fine age patina overall, nice antiquarian book. With a small scattering of neat, tiny pencil notations in blank margins, presumably by original owner Mr. Quimby.

Book measures: 4 3/43 1/2" H X " W.
