Abrege du Dictionnaire des Cas des Conscience, by M. Pontas.
Published 1744, Paris by Les Lebraires Associes.
2 volumes. 1385 pages. Text in French.
Period full mottled calf leather bindings, raised bands, gilt title lettering & compartment decorations.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings gently age worn, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, set remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, some old damp staining seen near gutter of volume 2, internally still well preserved, tight, sound. No marbled paper end papers in either volume, evidently removed long ago.
Still attractive on the shelf. This scarce set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this nice mid-18th century set survives.
Books Measures c. 10 1/4" H x 8" W.
