Cornell's First Steps in Geography, by S. S. Cornell.
Published 1858, New York by D. Appleton & Company.
72 pages. Text in English. Complete with all 18 hand colored maps. First Edition, with the U.S. map showing large western territories

Attractive antiquarian 1/4 leather binding, pictorial cover paste downs.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time.

Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed but still supple, covers surprisingly clean, this small juvenile atlas remains overall very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is age toned as typical, several pages torn with early owners neat thread repairs to mend the paper tears (!), signs of handling, scattered soiling and small staining from young readers, still tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new. Repairing books with thread was a wide spread practice in 19th century America, numerous books and pamphlets aimed at children display this historical feature.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this juvenile atlas as it survives.

We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than it appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take clear photos and try to describe it clearly.
