Crescent City Harbor California.
(United States / California / Crescent City Harbor).
Issued 1859 by the US Coastal Survey. Drawn by S.B. Linton. Engraved by A. Petersen & F. Benner.
Fine antique lithographed map with lovely hand color. Originally printed on thin, near tissue paper like many US government coastal charts of the 19th century. This example has been expertly backed with paper and had the left blank margin extended.
Stunningly detailed early city plan is seen including dozens of individual structures and plot lines. A brick kiln is identified as is a wagon road leading to the nearby mines. Bottom left contains extensive sailing directions, terrain notices, tidal information, and details about the light house.
Because of the expert restoration and beautiful artistic hand color, a superior visual example, unique and scarce thus.
Sheet Measures c. 13 1/2"H x 17 1/8"W.
Engraved Area Measures c. 12"H x 15 3/4"W.
