Crystals Minerals Mineralogy c.1800 W. Kneass lot x 5 fine engraved prints
Brian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold CoinsCrystallography.
(science- crystals- diamonds- stone cutting- facets).
Issued c.1800, Philadelphia. Engraved by W. Kneass.
Unique and interesting lot of early American engravings by one of the earliest Chief Engravers at the U.S. Mint. Of note for this reason as well as the connection to minerals and diamonds.
Total of five antique copper-engraved prints, each signed in the plate by Kneass.
All display light signs of time, some gentle age, scattered light spotting, but still attractive and well-preserved examples.
Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the lot. Nicer lot than typical for the type.
Minor light toning and as typical for printed images of this vintage, perhaps small minor paper flaws, but to our eyes and for most people, an entirely acceptable and nice looking example.
Sheets measure c. 11 1/8" x 8 5/8".
