Part of a larger set, this single volume X stands alone complete unto itself. The contents are focused upon the Maldive Islands, Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), and a long extensive section at the rear is devoted to the discovery of the NW Passage.
Book remains well age worn as typical for juvenile books of the 18th century. One page misbound (as issued), appears to lack a leaf after the title.
Covers loosened/ close to detached (front cover held by single cord). Title page torn w/ substantial loss.
A rare mid-18th century juvenile book in any condition, particularly one with so many engraved plates. An expensive book in it's day.
It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
