Danubius, Fluvius Europae Maxumus A Fontibus ad Ostia Cum Omnibus Fluminin ab utrique latere in illum fluentibus.
(Europe, Danube River, Holy Roman Empire, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Romania).
Issued c. 1635-60, Amsterdam by Blaeu.
Large mid 17th century engraved map with lovely hand color. Decorative pictorial cartouche and vignette scenery showing river gods greatly enhances visual appeal.
Near wall size format, two folio sheets joined by publisher.
Old paper repairs on verso, long split down left fold line, lower right corner backed with paper to close various tears mostly in lower blank margin.
Remains a nice looking example with a pleasing age patina despite the useage wear. Any age flaws mostly minor and easy to overlook or forgive.
Sheet Measures c. 19 3/4" H x 38" W.
Engraved Area Measures c. 18" H x 37 1/2" W.
