Halbkugel Der Erde
(World in Hemispheres / continents / Asia / Europe / North America))
Published c.1850-2, Hildburghausen, Germany by Meyer
Fine antique engraved German map with original outline hand color.
Interesting mid-19th century German produced map. Place names often in German, Australia still referred to as New Holland, Capt. Cook named in each Hemisphere by south Pole. Alaska still Russian America. Fictitious range Mountains of the Moon shown in central Africa.
Produced in a manner utterly unique to this era in terms of engraving technique and color. The original outline hand coloring is entirely correct and specific to this map-maker. We have seen thousands of mid-19th century Meyer maps over the years and this is an excellent typical example. Ready for display.
A detailed and increasingly uncommon mid-19th century German map which could readily be collected on it's own merits, displayed or given as a present.
