A splendid long shelf run of 23 eighteenth century full mottled calf leather bindings. Covers all acid etched, spines gilt decorated.

Rare set in any condition.

Attractive antiquarian full leather bindings, smooth spine, gilt bands, title lettering, & compartment decorations, marbled end papers.

Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. All covers strongly attached, most volumes with small chipping to spine ends.

Bindings gently age worn but still appealing, leather spins and joints slightly scuffed with some surface flaking along joint creases, various mostly minor scattered small age flaws impossible to describe individually, leather still supple, set remains overall very attractive. The patina of the set is utterly unique to bindings of this era, a warm, appealing, and impressive visual quality to the set.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally set remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
