Charming lot of thirty-seven (37) early 20th century color lithographed European chocolate cards.
Card depict various themes including home life, children, architecture, inventions, Native Americans, cats & kittens, city views, royalty, &c.
Mostly Paris & Holland, c.1900-1910. For the Parisian companies including Au Bon Marche, Cordonnerie Eureka, Ville de Saint-Denis, Chocolat Van Houten, Grand Bazar de l'Hotel de Ville, Cacao Bensdorp, Guerin-Boutron, Aux Bains Turcs, Chemiserie A. Pillet. Chocolat Carpentier.
Great lot of early 20th century trade cards with a strong Art Nouveau aesthetic.
Most of the cards display evidence of time and handling. Assortment of corner rubbing, small minor light scattered spotting or staining, short edge tears, old repairs, etc.
Less than perfect, but many are clean and nice, many beautiful examples of decorative advertising printing, overall fun and visually pleasing lot.
