Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Leather Books, Americana).
The Writings of George Pollen.
Published 1868, New York by The Trow & Smith Book Manufacturing Company.
290 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontis portrait protected by original tissue guard.
A very scarce book that was likely self-published in a small number.
Period full grained morocco leather binding, raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering, triple gilt ruled covers, all edges & turn-ins gilt, marbled end papers.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, remains overall clean and very attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Lovely well preserved mid-19th century book.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
