Profusely illustrated throughout with 37 full page steel engraved plates (several with long closed tears into images). Index to first volume continued and misbound at rear.
Contains steel engravings after Bartlett, including many nice views.
Period full leather binding, slightly raised and gilt bands, gilt title lettering, gilt ruled covers, marbled end papers. Binding remains clean, tight, and sound, leather is supple, some light scuffing and surface wear which is never severe. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina, with light to moderate spotting and small staining throughout.
Book remains attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
