Fine and very interesting antique engraved map. Interesting how the outline forms shown for the coastlines and islands is entirely inaccurate.
There exist several variant editions, all of which are interesting and worthy of collecting. Strapwork cartouche top right in Italian above a distance scale. Longitude is given from Paris.
Larger plate size than the earlier French versions which are much more common than the Italian version.
Nice and surprisingly affordable early visually attractive Canadiana. Few Canadian maps of similar date and beautiful visual appearance are available in this low price range.
Sheet remains well preserved, clean, small light stain below cartouche, slight printers crease to paper near this, inset tab at left is trimmed close below it as issued to facilitate folding.
Original fold lines as issued. Shipping outside the U.S. will be folded as issued and acquired well protected within Flat Rate Priority envelope.
