Issued 1863, Philadelphia by S.A. Mitchell (map itself has a printed imprint date of 1860, but the atlas title page was 1863- thus likely a variant)

Fine mid-19th century lithographed map with bold strong original hand color which is utterly unique to this time by Mitchell.

Nice early variant printing of this map which went through numerous revised versions over the years- this example displaying the early dark grape cluster & floral border.

As originally issued long ago, an actual antique/ vintage printed sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint.

Sheet remains well preserved, keeping in mind it is not modern or new, so minor flaws to paper unworthy of specific mention are sometimes to be expected. Some trivial age wear or minor surface spotting/ soiling, all of which is hopefully visible within the pics.

Paper and image remains overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.
