Ireland: Its Scenery, Character, &c. by Mrs. & Mrs. S.C. Hall.
Published c. 1846-50, London by Hall, Virtue & Co.
3 volumes, each c. 425 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with 609 wood and (full page) steel engraved plates and illustrations, (including 97 steel engraved plates and 19 county engraved maps, 18 being hand colored),

Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather bindings, slightly raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering on contrasting leather labels, marbled covers.

A handsome and monumental set which is one of the most comprehensive and broad ranging for this country during this era.

Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time but is nicer than typical.

Bindings gently rubbed and slightly age worn but still appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed but still supple, set remains overall very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally books remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Most of the plates are quite clean and don't display the scattered foxing which is so typical on this set.

Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this set as it survives.

We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than they appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take numerous photos and try to describe it openly and honestly.
