Where Many Thousands Perished
(Early 20th Century American Culture, Messina, Sicily, Italy, Italia, Sicilia, Tidal Wave, Earthquake, Destruction, Death)
Issued January 9, 1909, New York, by Harper's Weekly
Wonderful original antique color print. The original printed sheet issued at this time, not a modern copy or reprint of it.
In Good+ [or better] condition: 3" tear at bottom edge into title nicely closed long ago on back and easy to miss or overlook visually, displays uniform age browning/ toning as typical, light scattered spotting or foxing, light edge wear, slight creases, small institutional rubbers stamp, primarily outside of the printed area, and could have small edge splits which have been carefully and almost invisibly repaired on verso; overall the image remains clean and very attractive. Any defects may hopefully be clearly seen in the images.
Text on verso as issued-This is an original printed sheet from this scarce 20th century American periodical. Thus, it has printing & advertising on the back, which is the only way this image can be acquired other than perhaps as a modern reprint.
Please examine the scan closely as it forms the central part of the description. There is a zoom feature so you can see close up.
[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws

A delightful 20th century print any collector, dealer, or institution would be happy to possess. Perfect for display purposes.
