4 volumes, each c. 500 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontis & half title in each volume protected by original tissue guards, total of 29 plates throughout.

Attractive monumental antiquarian 1/2 leather bindings, slightly raised bands, gilt title lettering, marbled covers & end papers.

A nice set that shows signs of handling and time but is still well preserved and handsome on the shelf.

Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. 

Bindings gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed but still supple, title label of vol.4 with chip scuff, marbled paper covers showing evidence of old sun fading, set remains overall very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally set remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
