The Wards of Coleman Street, and Bassishaw, Taken from the Latest Survey, with Corrections and Amendments.
(London- Maitland's History- street plan of London)
Issued c.1756-69, London by Maitland.
Fine antique mid-18th century copper engraved print. Excellent level of detail, including tiny lanes, specific buildings and two large views.
Paper and image remains clean with a fine patina and visual appeal. Someone long ago used tape on reverse to flatten lower left edge and close a long tear into the street plan bottom left but which is now all but invisible to the eye when casually viewing the print.
Original fold lines as issued.
Sheet measures c. 10 7/8"H x 7 1/2"W.
Printed area measures c. 8 3/4"H x 6 5/8"W.
Adams, London Illustrated 1604-1851 , 38, 25. (noting the source as Maitland but also noting some of the plates were re-issued in a smaller format and the old fold lines on this print clearly indicate this image to be one of those).
