Period full leather binding, front cover detached, front cover with strong old gouge down center, gilt bands and title lettering on contrasting label, marbled end papers, all edges gilt.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, front cover old (not same as rear), supplied from different period binding and detached, spine leather dried and chipped as is title label, please see photos. Book remains overall quite interesting and curiously attractive, showing how a hand made 18th century object can survive in a one-of-a-kind condition.
Text block paper is gently toned but clean, internally still well preserved, tight, sound, sewn as issued.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
