Mounted original painting over photo (?) - or print which has been extensively hand finished on top of (so as to almost entirely hide the print underneath, if one is even there).  Or possibly completely by hand. 

Pictorial protective card stock covers, oblong format, image is mounted by hand within the folder. 

Seems to be a souvenir brought back from this location, likely c.1890-1920's. The mounted image upon very close magnification appears to us as extensive original hand coloring, possibly over a photo but not obvious to tell. Very tricky visually, looks almost entirely hand created which seems unlikely for this type of tourist souvenir (but not impossible given a skilled artist might knock this type of image out repeatedly in an hour or two, or something similar). Nice no matter how it was done.

Item is old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.

Paper gently age worn, slight rubbing, remains overall clean and attractive as a fragile survival.

Paper is lightly toned, signs of handling, small scattered toning and spotting from the flaps, still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. The scarce item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and overall is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
