Martha Washington c. 1860 Currier & Ives antique litho color portrait print
Brian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold CoinsMartha Washington
Issued c. 1865, New York by Currier & Ives
Fine and uncommon original antique lithographed print with original hand color.
A picture is worth a thousand words. The photos are a major part of the item description. Please examine them closely, as what you see is what we will send you. [note: we grade conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws.].
Print remains visually attractive but has some age/ condition issues: Please read the following description carefully:
Sheet is mostly clean, but has heavy age toning, likely from being pressed flush to a wooden or cardboard backing within an early glass frame. Several short edge repairs on back, some very light edge dampstaining, small scattered spotting. Image remains overall visually attractive, nice soft feel to the lithography. Not a Fine or Grade A example, but rather a lower cost alternative, priced much lower than a Fine example, price based on condition as seen and described here.
The scan provided should capture the appearance better than words. An old print which looks like it.
Old prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.
Still a great old original print entirely worthy of hanging for display.
A visual depiction and printing method rendered in a manner entirely unique to this mid-19th century era.
Sheet measures c. 15 7/8" H x 10 3/8" W.
Printed area measures c. 12 7/8" H x 9 5/8" W
