Issued 1864, NY by Johnson and Ward. With small detailed inset city plan of Washington, D.C. and three vignettes across the top of the Post Office, Treasury Building and Patent Office.

Attractive mid-19th century antique map, lithographed with original hand color.

There are numerous variant versions of this map, this J & W imprint only occurring briefly between c. 1862-66.

Light uniform paper age toning, some scattered age spotting and surface soiling, nothing offensive, nice visual appeal. An attractive American map produced during the Civil War.

Sheet measures c. 14" x 17 3/4".

Printed area measures c. 12 5/8" x 15 5/8".
