Publisher's pictorial paper wrappers. Nice lot of five mid-19th century color illustrated children's story books produced by this famous New York publisher.
Titles included in this lot: The Mouse and the Christmas Cake; Watt's Song, Good Examples; Watt's Songs, Praises for Good; Jimmy String; and the Tailor and the Carrion Crow.
Each booklet is around 150 years old and shows some signs of clear but mostly light handling and time. Lot is not new or in "new" condition.
Paper covers gently age worn, two books with covers completely detached, slight rubbing, hand colored book with early owners hand stitched spine, lot remains overall clean and attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, various signs of handling, all seem entirely worthy of collecting and owning. Appealing unique lot.
Still attractive on the shelf. The fragile lot displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
