Period 1/2 leather binding, gilt bands, gilt title lettering, marbled covers. Bound sequential run of this monthly women's magazine: January 1847 - December 1848.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Interesting period advice and literature aimed at females.
Binding well age worn, leather dried and rubbed, scuffed, paper covers scuffed, remains overall attractive as an object. Front & rear joints cracked, covers loosely held.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, some plates well toned and foxed, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
