Early female owner has signed her name at top of title page and on the half title with date 1805.
Appears to be a very scarce/ rare early printing of this well known juvenile story which predates any editions of it we find listed within Alderson or Osborne, Welch recording to American versions of it prior to 1821, etc.
Period 1/4 vellum binding, smooth (vellum dyed green) spine, paper covered boards, retains half title and with early publishers advertisement leaf bound in after Preface prior to text.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn but sound, yet still remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is toned with minor scattered small age spotting, slightly shaken, any flaws of a minor type unworthy of specific mention.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.
