A Compendious History of New England, by Jedidiah Morse, D. D. and Elijah Parish, D. D.
1809, Newburyport, Thomas & Whipple. pp. 336. Engraved folding map as frontis.
Period full calf leather binding, smooth spine gilt ruled into compartments, contrasting red leather gilt spine title label.
Very scarce book with the large folding map still at front as issued. Map displays no mention of the White Mountains (!), Grafton county in NH spelled as Gratton, District of Maine shows a very early country configuration, etc.
Map has some expert archival tissue paper repairs on reverse, slight wrinkling and misfolding, but still a nice looking example.

Sheet: 12 1/2" x 8 1/4".
