Gezicht van de Nieuwmarkt te Amsterdam.
Vue du Marcheneuf a Amsterdam.
(Nieuwmarkt).
Issued c. 1760-70, unknown imprint (Paris?)..
Nice mid-18th century copper engraved urban view print. With original hand color.
Almost folk-art in appearance.
The scene on Nieuwmarkt square captured still largely exists today, the Waag in the center being a cafe, the large public market areas still used weekly.
Image displays typical signs of handling and time (given these views were intended to be handled, this is normal), light touches of dustiness across the sky, but still displays a fine patina and visual appeal. The video captures the appearance and any repairs done on the back.
Affixed long ago to thicker cardboard backing sheet, item must be shipped flat and will weight 2-3 pounds due to cardboard protection required.
Sheet measures c. 12 3/4"H x 16 7/8"W.
Printed area measures c. 11 3/8"H x 16 1/4"W.
