Nice mid-19th century engraved & then lithographed map with original stencil workshop hand color. Possibly cerographically engraved.
Along the Canadian border below Lake Winnipeg is "Lord Selkirk's Settlement". The Gulf Stream is shown in the Atlantic ocean, the Explanation Key notes names of "Indian Tribes" and locates Christian Missionary stations. Russian Alaska is named beside a vast "Unexplored Region", , Parry's Arctic Expedition Winter Harbor located as well.
Nice looking example, clean and fresh, pleasing age patina, any small age spots or minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
