(Proverb- Nude female- woman)

Very nice old engraved print. Pleasurable to the eye, nice example of the art of engraving.

Issued 1626, Europe

Absolutely unique and curious printed image. An early owner has taken it upon themselves to augment the long cloth in front of the nude woman. It has been subtly but clearly added to by an early moralistic or prudish hand which wanted to cover the womans private genetalia. Makes no difference theimage is how the artist intended and engraved it, it's necessary to censor those parts found morally or visually objectionable. Seldom seen, and most amusing and fascinating when they are.

A collection might be formed (with only great patience and difficulty) over time of this sort of historical private visual hand censorship. Most types of censorship are invisible, this one unmistakeable.

An actual antique/ vintage printed sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint. The sheet could show signs of age difficult to capture digitally, but if we are offering it for sale you can be 100% certain it is entirely worthy of ownership by even the most discerning collector or dealer.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The scan is a major part of the item description. Please examine it closely, as what you see is what we will send you.

[note: we grade conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws.].

Sheet remains well preserved, keeping in mind it is not modern or new, so minor flaws to paper are sometimes to be expected. Some light age wear or surface spotting/ soiling, all of which is hopefully entirely visible within the zoomable scan.

Paper and image remains overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.

Attractive and appealing old vintage antique print entirely worthy of hanging for display, gift giving, reselling, etc.

A style and manner of depiction entirely unique to this era, an art form little practiced today for imaginative pictorial representation, such as seen here.

Sheet measures c.  7 1/4" H x  5 1/8" W.
