International Law--The Better Way

(Improving British American Relationship, Arbitrator, Strengthening the "Special Relationship," Improving Trans Atlantic Trade, Increasing American Exports to Europe, Uncle Sam, German Nobility, 19th Century Political Cartoon)

Issued 1874, New York, Harper's Weekly

Art by Thomas Nast

A visually appealing original antique wood-engraved print.

It is an original pictorial sheet extracted from a scarce 19th century illustrated popular weekly periodical.  There is text/ possibly other images on the back because it was extracted from an illustrated periodical from the 19th century. Great fun & very interesting to look at both sides.

Offered for the historical interest of the topic as well as the modern appeal of the printed image. The visual presentation is unique to the era and this type of printed popular newsprint image which is no longer being produced.

In Good+ [or better] condition: displays uniform age toning as typical for this age image. There may be light scattered spotting, small stitch holes along the centerfold line, slight crease parallel to the centerfold line, and possibly short minor edge splits now repaired on the back with small pieces of archival tape. Any surface defects or nicks/ blank margin issues may hopefully be clearly seen in the photographs. We wouldn't offer the sheet for sale if we felt it was not worthy of ownership or display.

Please examine the images closely as the picture forms part of the description, so please take a close look. There is a zoom feature, so you can see the entire printed surface remarkably close up.

Overall, the main image area remains very attractive-unquestionably an appropriate old print for framing.

[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws].

** The type of wood-pulp paper used by the periodical in this era is now somewhat delicate and needs to be handled a bit carefully **

Great, unique old printed image entirely worthy of presenting to someone as a present or hanging for display.

Original fold line as issued.

Sheet measures c. 15 3/4" H x 22 1/4" W.

Printed area measures c. 13 3/4" H x 20 3/8" W
