Charming and rare 18th century copper engraved celestial image.

issued 1719, Frankfurt Germany by Mallet

With pleasing full hand color. Delightful curious image, including a vignette scene across the bottom of people clearly engaged in some sort of weather related dance ritual we have never heard of before. It would appear to relate to the rainbow.

The charming image has a near folk-art feel, a style of pictorial image quite unique to this time in history. Utterly unlike anything produced today and of modern aesthetic appeal for this very reason. Also, the small size lends a feeling of intimacy, like a small near miniature jewel.

Print paper and engraved area remains well preserved. Overall remains clean and nice.

Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous minor thin creases or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.

Charming little old vintage antique image, very attractive and entirely worthy of hanging for display.
