Wonderful and rare original old antique engraved print. An engraving with great visual appeal, extracted from a rare illustrated book about the history of the Low Countries in the 16th century. Nice cartographic appeal, with city architecture visible in some detail now long gone.
Almost folk-art in conception, an active historical scene finely rendered by a skilled engraver.
Printed in the 17th century on paper which has age toned as always, but which remains sound & well preserved. Text on verso [back] as always for this scarce printed view.
A picture is worth a thousand words. The zoomable image is a major part of the item description. Please examine closely, as what you see is what we will send you. [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws ].
A nicely engraved 17th century image worthy of display. Print is not often seen.
Text on verso as issued.
In Good+ or better condition, normal uniform light age toning to sheet as typical, as well as a some trivial light age staining or foxing as should be clearly visible within scan, light soft normal age waviness scattered about the sheet; overall the image is clean, well preserved and very attractive
A little known and vivid printed historical image which any collector, dealer, institution or person of artistic taste would be happy to own.
Sheet measures c. 6 3/8" H x 8 1/2" W.
