Published 1719, Frankfurt am Main, Germany for A.M. Mallets " Beschreibung des Welt"

Charming original antique engraved German print.

Produced in a manner utterly unique to this era in terms of engraving technique and paper. At this date all paper was hand-made, so made from pulped rags versus wood pulp. This means the paper is very durable and should last for many more years.

The paper clearly shows signs of being almost 300 years old. Some typical age toning, light scattered foxing entirely typical and normal for mallet prints of this era. The copper plates used for Mallet's work went through a long life of usage and many later issues of mallet engravings are washed out and devoid of much detail. This example is full of detail often missing on later states. The inking is a pleasing borderline dark; a nice overall visual quality.

Could readily be collected on it's own merits, displayed or given as a present.
