Published 1856, New York by Harper & Brothers.
3 volumes, complete unto themselves. 572, 686, 789 pages. Text in English.
Publisher's cloth bindings, gilt title lettering, gilt pictorial spine decorations, embossed cover designs.
A monumental and pioneering work on the early history of the nation. Comprised of two separate 3 volume sets, each of which stands alone and covers different eras.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings age worn, joints slightly scuffed, spines sunned with some small staining and wear at spine ends, cloth splitting along some joints, covers all well attached, remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this 165 year old set survives.
