Birmingham & Derby Connecticut 1868 F.W. Beers large detailed city plan
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & PrintsBirmingham - Derby.
(North America, United States, New England, Connecticut, New Haven County, Birmingham, Derby, Detailed City Plan).
Issued 1868, New York by F.W. Beers.
Uncommon and detailed mid 19th century lithographed map with original hand color.
Very detailed with countless home owners named, great for genealogical research. A lengthy detailed business directory lists dozens of professionals such as lawyers, physicians, tailors, saloons, meat markets, grocers, merchants, stationers, Smith's Photographic Gallery, a ship builder, sign painter, many manufacturers, etc.
Paper shows a lovely age patina, and is uniformly age toned, the edges now slightly brittle. This fragile map will require careful handling, but remains worthy of framing and display.
Original center fold as issued.
Sheet Measures c. 27 1/2" x 16".
Printed Area Measures c. 24" x 14" W.
