Views of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in Natural Colors.
Published 1915, San Francisco by the Pacific Novelty Co.
30 colored plates protected by original lettered tissue wrappers, plus a double page panoramic birds-eye view. Text in English.

Publisher's oblong format heavy paper covers, embossed lettering, color litho paste-on photo, string tied spine binding as issued. All color printed images mounted by publisher onto heavy colored backing paper, covered by descriptive heavy tissue guards.

Scarce item due to the inevitable small press run given the high cost of the expensively and skillfully printed booklet. Color printing at this time was quite expensive, a superior and somewhat complex multi-process souvenir like this among the most expensive available to the public for purchase at the Fair. Given this, it follows it would likely be among the least often purchased type. A wealthy person's souvenir at the time it was issued, perhaps similar to someone today buying a $150 book.

An impressive printing job done at a very high level requiring special presses and numerous skilled book art craftsmen to produce. A great early 20th century World Fair celebrating the fine art of visual fantasy across the arts, reminiscent of Little Nemo by Windsor McCay.

Book is physically old and shows some small mostly inoffensive signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding gently age worn, light old damp staining to spots to front cover, remains overall entirely attractive as a scarce survival.

Text block paper is gently toned, internally still very well preserved, tight, sound, all the tissue guards nicely in place, fresh example.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this quite scarce pictorial book survives. A surprisingly large and heavy book.

Book Measures c. 10" H x 13" W.
