St. Pauls Cathedral London Scaffolding 1795 rare old city view print Bertuch
Brian DiMambro- Antique & Vintage Maps, Prints, Books & Gold CoinsLondon- St. Pauls Cathedral- Tower Wooden Scaffolding erected in the late 18th century for restoration or building work.
(cupola- London)
Fascinating and very uncommon original old engraved print. With very old, possibly original hand color.
Issued 1795, Weimar Germany by F.J. Bertuch
Appears to depict the most curious moveable house which was erected at the top of the scafforlding around the Cathedral Come & cuopla in order to do restoration on it up high. Difficult to recall when I last saw a wooden contraption which looks like this- lashing long timbers up together with rope! Nice panoramic city view from the Thames river is shown.
An actual antique/ vintage printed sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint of an old print. The sheet could show signs of age difficult to capture digitally, but if we are offering it for sale you can be 100% certain it is entirely worthy of ownership by even the most discerning collector or dealer.
A picture is worth a thousand words. The scan is a major part of the item description. Please examine it closely, as what you see is what we will send you.
[note: we grade conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws.].
Sheet remains well preserved, keeping in mind it is not modern or new, so minor flaws to paper are sometimes to be expected. Some light age wear or minor inoffensive surface spotting/ soiling, all of which is hopefully visible within the zoomable scan.
Paper and image remains overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.
Attractive and visually appealing old vintage antique print entirely worthy of hanging for display.
A style and manner of depiction entirely unique to this era.
