Legends of the Monastic Orders As Represented in the Fine Arts, Forming the Second Series of Sacred and Legendary Art by Mrs. Jameson.
Published 1867, London by Longmans, Green, and Co.
462 pages. Text in English. Well illustrated throughout.

Period 1/2 leather binding, raised & gilt bands, gilt compartment decorations & title lettering, marbled covers & end papers, all edges gilt.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

There is some light old damp staining to the first few pages, including the lithographed frontis. There is a light trace of this along the fore edge of the text block which we find very easy to overlook.

Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this nice book survives.

Book Measures c. 8 1/2" H x 6" W.
