192 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout with many full page wood engraved plates, including views of California, naval ships, Mexico, etc.

Poor physical condition. Text block split in middle, several pages detached and well edge worn/ frayed from protruding slightly, scattered light staining and spotting. Scarce pictorial juvenile book in any condition.

Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering & cover designs, embossed cover decorations.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding heavily age worn, small hole to cloth along rear joint, covers stained, book remains overall attractive as an object.

Paper is toned, scattered staining.

Still attractive on the shelf. The rare book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.
