The Instructor, or Young Man's Best Companion, by George Fisher.
Published 1792, London.
404 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontis. Illustrated throughout with diagrams and a folding geometry plate (defective).

Attractive antiquarian full leather binding, slightly raised bands.

Poor condition overall, a heavily read and much consulted book which shows the popularity of the title. A book which was intended to be practical and consulted regularly, meaning many examples were read to ruin, this one surviving in much used condition. Front cover close to detached, rear cover loose, various scattered stains, spotting, some writing on pages, lacking blank endpapers (no doubt removed for use as writing paper).

Book is physically old and shows heavy signs of handling and time. If condition is important to you on a practical 18th century instructional book, this is not the example for you. If you like to see evidence of strong use, you will love this example.

Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this book as it survives.

We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than it appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take clear photos and try to describe it clearly.
