Lovely mid-18th century copper engraved map, with beautiful hand color.

Depicts the island at a relatively early stage of conception within western cartography. Splendid decorative scroll title cartouche at top right includes urns, swags and tiny sherubs. The interior is only sparsely rendered, reflecting lack of precise knowledge. Various tiny mountains indicate terrain, numerous districts shown along southern coast, two kingdoms of Bantam and Jakarta at left. Bali appears at lower right edge, Madura island shown just above. Sumatra coastline at top left corner.

Nice looking example, pleasing age patina, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
