Carte Generale de L'Amerique Septentrionale.

(North America- United States)

Issued Paris, 1828 by A. Brue.

Engraved map with original outline hand color. Mounted onto a linen backing with blue cloth edging long ago, possibly as issued by the publisher. Very unusual thus, almost a wall map.

Note the huge bump above modern day Washington state, shown here extending well up into British North America (Canada) prior to the treaty which brought it down to the modern day boundary. Arkansas is an elongated territory, no sign of Minnesota or Wisconsin yet within Northwest Territory. Note the outline shape of what would become the state of Texas.

Color key at left identifying Colonial powers possessions at this time across the region and Caribbean.

Sheet measures c. 22" H  x 28 1/4" W.

Printed area measures c. 14 1/9" H x 19 5/8" W.
