Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & PrintsUntitled Lot.
(Graphic Arts, Illustration, Edmund Dulac, Ocean, Maritime Scenes, Sailing Ships, Folk Tales, Fantasy Art).
Issued c. 1926 (?), Amsterdam, Netherlands by van Holkema & Warendorf for a limited edition of The Tempest by Shakespeare. (325 copies only). Scarce thus.
Color images mounted by publisher to heavy hand made paper backing sheets. Dutch text on verso of each print.
Nice lot of early 20th century Edmund Dulac prints, tipped-in color plates originally illustrating a very scarce limited edition Dutch edition of Dulac. Lot acquired loose as seen.
Well preserved, nice looking example with pleasing age patina. Some light age spotting or foxing to blank margins, color plates remain clean and bright.
Much scarcer than most other Rackham color plates of this era due to source and fine heavy backing paper used.
Sheets Measures c. 12" H x 9" W.
Printed Area Measures c. 7 1/4" H x 5 1/4" W. Due to size and thickness of lot, will be shipped flat with cardboard and thus likely over 1 pound (so First Class post is not possible).
