Untitled Theater Broadside.

Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, 1823 April 9, New Tragedy of Julian...Prince Julian..called The Vision of the Sun; or, the Orphan of Peru...Mr. Grimaldi.

(Ephemera, Broadside Announcements, Theater, U.K. England, London, Convent Garden, Theatre Royal).

Issued 1823, London by W. Reynolds, printer to the Theatre. Rich text in numerous typefaces, announcing various performances by William Macready (1793-1873) and Joseph Grimaldi (1778-1837). An early performance by Macready who continued on to an illustrious career and was an intimate friend of Charles Dickens. Grimaldi was a distinguished actor as well, known for comic performances, clowns and pantomime. The scenery of the play is listed and mostly painted by Grieve.

Nice combination of visual as well as historical interest.

Rare, possibly unique early 19th century British theater broadside advertisement for a number of performances at the Theatre Royal in Convent Garden.

An ephemeral hand bill or broadside sheet intended to be distributed to the public/ posted for an event at a specific date, hence as ephemeral as a printed sheet can get.

Various small defects seen in photos, paper toned but mostly quite clean, overall entirely acceptable survival worthy of display.

Sheet Measures c. 13" H x 8 1/4" W.
